Family Shopping Extravaganza!

It has become tradition that my family goes shopping BIG TIME before Christmas. We'll shop down in the Cities for one day trying to cross off as much as possible from our Christmas gift list. For the second year in a row, the night before we went to the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre to watch a production. This year it was Altar Boyz. I have to tell you, this was one hysterical production. It has a bunch of Catholic references in it, but you certainly don't have to be Catholic to watch it. There is a lot of crowd interaction which makes it even better.

Part of the production is where one of the guyz, Matthew, is singing about a girl he knew at camp. He slowly walks around the seats singing until he finds his girl ...

which for our production happened to be my sister, Nancy!!! So he pulls her up on stage to have her sit on a stool and sing to her. It was awesome! Here's the picture they took with her which is now on the Chanhassen website.

After the production, the boyz line up for autographs. Since we were last in line, I asked if they would take a picture with all of us. They were super gratious about it.

From left to right, their characters are: Matthew (the popular guy), Mark (the feminine/gay boy), Luke (the rebel), Juan (the ladies man) and Abraham (the Jew).

The production is about a "boy band" that consists of four Catholics and one Jew. They all meet and make up this singing group, but are performing their last concert to the audience at Chanhassen.

After a good night's sleep, it was Family Shopping Extravaganza 2008! We did a lot of the shopping at the Eden Prairie Center. We took a break to eat at the Great Mandarin restaurant but then back to finding some deals! I can say that I'm 3/4 of the way done with my list - woo hoo!!

Hope you all had a great weekend. I'm off to enjoy a relaxing Sunday.

That "Shopping" song on your playlist is hilarious! I've never heard it before. I am 3/4 of the way done with my list too, but wishing it was all done.
